I opened a bag of feed today for mums beasts, and shoved scoop right in, fed Jake, then fatso, did livery horse and was stiring her feed when the metal spoon I used clunked against something! A sharp 3 inch sheered bit of metal. I am so pleased I found it, what could have happened to her had I not found it... the mind boggles. Should I call feed company to complain? Their QC checks must be poor three inches is not small. All I can say is check your feed!

thats shocking!

I would ring up their customer helpline immediately! I feed dengie alfa oil to mine too - quite worrying! I wonder if its a one off or has happened before?

Me too. I found a helium balloon (deflated!) in a bag of Alfa-A once. I sent it back to Dengie who were most apologetic and sent me some vouchers. They also told me that they employ a local scout troop to walk the fields before harvesting to check for any rubbish etc .

Definately ring Dengie, not only because they need to know but because they'll want to know! I found some glass in a herbal supplement once, I took it back to the shop where I bought it and they handled contacting the company (which was really good of them, the shop owner telephoned them there and then!). We got vouchers, another tub of supplement and a long and very apologetic letter.
Things happen, but something dangerous like sharp metal is a bit ridiculous if it manages to get through their quality control!

Absolutely complain. The bet was if you had not have found it i dont think your horse would have eaten it - but nevertheless it should not have bin in there!

There should be a batch numbe ron the bag you found the object in, Dengie will probably need this number so they can check all the stuff that went through in that batch.
