Has anyone used this for horses with Spavin/osteoarthritis/DJD?? Would be interested in other's experiences, am thinking of trying it with Mickey on top of his Extraflex HA to keep him nice and free.

My horse blew a hind suspensory, and at the same time we found out he has arthritis in the joint.

We did 6 sessions of SWT on the suspensory and the joint, and he also went onto a hyaluronic acid gel.

**touch wood** he is sound again now, and im sure the SWT helped a great deal.

There is absolutely no evidence that SW will do anything for OA - personally I'd save the money.
Sorry but it's a bug bear - in human medicine you have to obtain mounds of evidence before being allowed to perform a therapy - in the vet world you just buy it and then charge your clients a bomb to pay for it with little or no evidence that it works. Its use for OA and tendons as far as I'm concerned is pointless!

i know a horse whom had High susp desmitis, in both hind legs, weve just finished 3 sessions of shock wave and despite being given a 40% chance of recovroy have now been given the go ahead to begin walk work with the prognosis of him returning to normal work, as v.good.

High suspesory desmitis is tissue damage and they think it works by damaging the nerve endings - so a sonic way of performing a denerving. OA is bone growth (?) so not quite the same thing.
