Hi everyone,
Does anyone else's horse ever go lame or quite feely after being shod?
This happens to my boy quite frequently and seems to last a few days each time.
I've checked with my farrier on each occasion in case its been a nail prick etc but nothing has shown up.
My farrier is very good and well qualified and no one else on the yard seems to have this problem.
Can some horses just have sensitive feet or should I be worried?
Between this, the weather and all the muck I'm at my wits end!!! lol!
Thanks!

My neddy used to do this but this was when it had not been very long since he had recovered from a laminitus attack so the lamini (i think thats what its called) was very sensitive so he would be slightly foot sore for a couple of days

This would happen ocassionaly to the horse I had on loan last year. It was a result of the shoes being put on too snugly.

How long have you had this particular farrier??I changed my horses farrier after having the last 1 for quite a while!!My boy went lame after a wk of shoeing every time for about 4 shoeings!Called farrier(my boy has 1 foot very slightly mishaped)he explained to me that all farriers qualify to the same degree but some are better than others, which you will agree i'm sure???what had happened was due to the fact he was slowly recorrecting my horses hoof balance it was altering the way that he used all the bones and muscles in that leg!Bit like if u always wore flat shoes then went straight in2 heels everyday,ya legs would really ache and hurt!hope this helps but u didnt say how long you had had farrier??x
