Well no money changes hands cos I am married to him, but it isn't half difficult persuading him to shoe my horses. It's never the right time to ask, and you can be sure he will either say "they'll go another week" or "why didn't you ask me last week?". Must say he is a brill farrier tho, and fab with the youngsters!
eta and he makes his own shoes, so they are always a fab fit
I pay £100 for imprint heart bar stick on shoes for pony with Cushings - luckily he goes every 9 weeks.
£75.00 per set for the two heavy horses (£65.00 for refits)
£10.00 for Tilly's trim.
£60 - £65 for a full set hot shod with road nails.
£10 - £15 for a trim
Price depends on what mood farrier is in and if its cash or cheque!!
Fab farrier though and is quite pricey compared to what others pay on our yard.
An older farrier that come to our yard charges £43 cold shod but does not seem to be up to date with all the newer methods that the younger ones were taught and know as normal.
Would rather pay more for a good knowledgable farrier than les for one that can only shoe a good normal foot!!!
Chex do you not find you wear them down?
I wear mine down after 5weeks but then I'm on south downs so the ground is hard and chalkie. I activly hack a cuple of times a week for a few hours, school in field and in menege.
