Do you think this would be ok? She has been barefoot for around 3 years and has always needed boots all round. She has always been difficult to keep booted behind as all boots apart from epics with the old style heel strap with the metal teeth twist on her. I'm really struggling with getting her hind boots on due my dodgy back and the epics don't have good sole grip and we nearly ended up in a heap on the floor last night cantering on dry but long grass. So I feel I've had enough of hoof boots on her hinds. But I'm loathed to change anything with her fronts as she was constantly lame on one or both fronts prior to being barefoot. I don't actually think the short were the problem but now that she's ok I really don't want to change anything! So the question is do you think having shoes on the hinds only is ok?

No, I'm afraid that I don't as this will make her down hill and on the forehand and will put pressure on her back and discourage her from working correctly. Can you not just do without the hind boots? Most horses can cope with front shoes or boots only.

Without hind boots she crawls at snail pace but is very forward with them. I will maybe try for a bit without and see how we go but I'm not hopeful!
