Shoes taken off?

When I bought my horse just over a year ago she was bare foot. Then in The summer 2013 she went really badly foot sore so got front shoes put on. She then got laminitis once the shoes were put on. The vet said that her being foot sore was early signs if the laminitis and having shoes put on has brought it out. The vet then advised to get heart bars put on so she did and was fine for a week or so but is now lame again.
. She has had x rays and is on a low sugar diet and also has a boxy front hoof
I would just like to know if it would be worth getting the shoes taken off as before the laminitis everything was fine and any other advice would be helpful x
