Recently having a problem with shoes and wondered if anyone has had a similar problem,For about the last month my horse seems to lose a shoe every week, it dosnt come off completely sometimes the shoes is bent or the shoe has moved and slipped over, Same farrier that i have had for years, same field, We thought that the mare she shares the field with is standing on her shoe and pulling it off as she does get close to her back end to rub her head to get the flys off on her bum, as when her owners turn her out they dont bother putting her fly hood and rug on, and when i turn her out i put it all on. and it does seem that when she has no fly protection on she has the shoe coming off.

anyone got any ideas i have tried over reach boots on the hind legs??
 
Is your farrier putting them on to his usual standard? Are her feet ok? My horses feet are looking a bit cracked at the moment, I wonder if it's something to do with the strange conditions this summer? Sorry I can't be more help - it does seem a bit odd.

i reckon something to do with weather too.... we have had quite a few shoes off more than normal.... and pus in foot too which vets said there has been loads of as the weather has been wet n warm so lot's of bacteria
 
I was chatting to my Farrier & he's said that this year he's seen no end of cracking feet due to weather. As a result of this there are alot of horses that re having trouble keeping shoes on. I asked if there was anything I could feed or put on to make things better. He recommend I keep on with 'Kevin Bacon" hoof oil & as for suppliments he said so many people buy a tub, use it & then don't keep up with it that he doesn't realy know if many work. He believes you need to feed it for about 12 months to you will see any marked imrpovement.

I know some people have used Camrosa on hooves & said it has really done them good....but I don't know from first hand.
