Shopping list for a new horse...

Though I don't actually have a horse yet, I am looking at one tomorrow and I feel that I need to be prepared as to what I will need to buy. I don't know if tack will be included, but I don't think rugs will.

I have a few bits left from Boo, but these are mainly tackroom stuff like a saddle rack, headcollar etc.

Sooo, question is, What will I need to buy including 1st aid kit etc.

So far on my list, I have:
HW rug
MW rug
LW rug (will wait a bit for this)
feed bowls
bucket
fork
1st aid kit (not sure what to go in it)

Any more?

lol my potential new horse is coming next week with everything you could ever need!! but i can't help but browse through the catalogues picking out stuff, her colour is gonna be baby blue (i've already decided that lol)

have you stuff to travel new horsey in - ie a rug and bandages? have you classesed your rugs for outdoor and indoor? (i had to buy everything for new horse in one go and was so expensive!) guess you have grooming kit , haynets, wheelbarrow, just get the bare essentials then add the other bits later - probably better to get a decent turnout and stable rug then pick up the lw versions in the sale when you have the pennies... check with what the new horsey is used to - good luck, enjoy!

Make sure you get all potential horses measurements ie rug, girth, head, boot size and write them all down..saves having to ring up desperatly when its suddenly on its way to its new home!
Try and get rugs, tack thrown in with the sale if poss- less to worry about when you have to get to know the horse, rather than run and buy things.

Lovely! Thanks for all your suggestions. I will def wait for lw rugs until I have to get one rather than everything all in 1 go. Looks like I'll have to send my credit card into A & E!!
