Looking for a new pair of brown field boots or smart short boots & gaiters; my ariat and tredstep combo have sadly given up the ghost at the same time.

Wishlist is as follows:

Brown (chocolate, dark havana etc)
Suitable for competing in, riding at home and for walking around on the yard.
waterproof (or weatherproof!)
leather
hardwearing
If gaiters then ones that look like boots please, not like chaps.

Open to recommendations, looked at the ariat bromonts- any advice?

Must not require lots of breaking in; nor be bank breaking either! Budget circa £200 :)

Thank you!

Definitely the ariat bromonts! Fills all your criteria, I've had an insulated pair for years and just got the non-insulated, very happy! They're reasonably long too which for me is a huge plus!

I have the ariat cobalt quantum devon pro (or something along those lines) retail anywhere between £120 and £200 depending where you look plus you need gaiters on top but I love them, my mum has the cheaper ariat heritage boots & it's worth paying the extra. When I first tried them on they felt awful but I broke them in (so to speak) within a week or two and they're now 18 months old and still going strong (touch wood!)
Have also tried the bromonts tho not ridden in them and did like them.

If I go down the short boot & gaiter route I will get the devon pro's ; it is the gaiters I really struggle with because I the Ariat ones never fit me properly, and the Tredstep new ones feel quite plasticky and have too much material on the front at the bottom where they rest on your boots so they feel quite restrictive. (Does that make sense?)

The insulated ones are pretty warm which is why I've just got the non-insulated ones, depends which is more important to you as the insulated ones are a life saver in winter!

I've got both :p I notice a difference in cold weather but they don't make my feet overly warm in the summer... No more than normal boots or the uninsulated ones anyway :)

Know what you mean about gaiters, I can't really help because I have a pair of Loveson Sheppeys which are super comfortable not like the stiff/moulded gaiters and only cost about £40 tho they are the wrong shade of brown to go with my boots, depends how much you care about those things really I guess but if out competing I suppose it does matter.
Mountain horse xcellsior gaiters are soft supple ones too, had them in black to go with my previous black jodh boots, they may be worth looking at but are about £80 a pair now I believe.

Vermillion how about these?

I have just had a pair and am ultra pleased with them, they are smart enough to compete in and pretty comfortable from day one. I felt they are reasonably priced too. Got mine via mail order from Over a (not correct spelling but remove the space!) Stud Farm who had them sent direct from the manufacturer to me.

Have you tried all the Ariat gaiters? There are several types but the close contact ones are spot on :)

Only asking as I didn't like my older ones, now have had the close contact for the past 3 months & love wearing them (with Devon Pro or whatever they are) as much as my Bromonts
