Okay so I know there's plenty of post about this and you all probably sick of hearing or talking about it (I bet some are less sick about it than others haha!)

But.......

For general riding purposes am I better off with short or long riding boots?

A friend of mine is saying jodphur boots are easier and more comfortable but my instructor has recommended long boots....

Problem is I don't want to be spending a fortune on something that at the moment is only going to get used once a week (twice if im lucky haha!) But I also don't do cheap and nasty stuff that falls apart in less than a month......

So jodphur boots and half chaps or long boots?

Looking around for breeches too.....at the moment Im riding in jogging bottoms (that are quite baggy on me...) and my walking boots which allow me to feel nothing so im wondering if this could be the reason as to why I cant keep my heel down =)....

Apologies for any spelling errors ect as I'm on my phone....

Hi,

I have both but my jod boots and chaps are used the most (I can wear my jod boots day to day with jeans). Also, they don't slide off whilst doing no-stirrups work unlike my long boots :D.

I personally prefer short boots & chaps. Can you try some on & see what you prefer?

I personally like the look of longer boots but until I get to a stage where they would be more beneficial ie showing purposes ect......then I will settle for shorter boots and hc/gaiters?

I prefer to try boots on (sizes seem to vary) so would suggest finding a local tack shop and try different boots and styles of chaps. Ask around for recommendations of shops. I do prefer riding in my long leather boots but they take a while to bed in and hurt to walk in - hence why my jod boots are used the most. X
