If you weren't happy at a livery yard after 5 weeks of being there would you expect to have to give 1 months notice or do you think 2 weeks is acceptable?

Contract stated 1 month but livery yard didn't keep to their side of agreement anyway..

I would have thought that if the livery yard hadn't kept to the contract then the contract would be null and void... However they may well argue that you should give a month's notice as stated in the contract.

If you signed the contract for a month, then you really should give a months notice however, it may be worth talking to the YO explain why you are unhappy and why you wish to leave and that you would prefer as they have not kept their side of the contract x long before you go.

If it really is something that you cannot live with, then move and maybe leave them a weeks money in leiu of notice or what you think is fair. If you decide to do this I would also put this in writing to them, so they fully understand and if they decide to take action (which I highly suspect) you have written documentation of your reasons for going.
