That makes me laugh!
Never, but in Ireland have I seen farmland so badly kept as there! A lot of it is the original set aside but basically all it means is they are too idle to look after it properly in the first place; you won't see more derelict land anywhere else in these islands!
Of course there are good farmers and they stick out a mile but if the others want to stop hunting, don't hide behind the 'it's for conservation' banner, let them be honest and say they don't like it.

I have to admit though that it is incredibly arrogant and short-sighted of hunts to allow this intimidation to continue; they should abide by the landowner's rules the same as the rest of us; nobody is above the law even over there.

They moved a hunt near us because the farmers were getting grants to maintain dry stone walls and a whole field jumping over them wasn't particularly helping them stay standing.

I don't think hunting where you aren't wanted is particularly good for the cause.

The author of that letter has a serious chip on his shoulder, though. Reverse snobbery (we croppies will not lie down?!? What year are we in?), and unwarranted at that.

MFH_09 - you want to come up to where we are, everything is pristine. Sometimes I'd rather be a Blackface sheep belonging to my neighbour, I'd have a much higher standard of life.
