my little jack rat is a poorly girl, she was stood on by an excitable horse and has dislocated and chipped her hip so is all strapped up and not aloud to use it. she is on lacsatives to get her pooing, she had a pooh yesterday and little tiny one came out this morning but no more, anyway the main reason im posting is that she goes through fazes of shivering and panting at the same time, she had done this before her injury and it was usually associated with a stressfull time like when she went through the car wash with me and was very scared but she goes quiet for a few hours then usually starts just when shes sat quietly on the sofa, but she has done it every night since she came home from the vets friday. its really odd, she goes in the vets wednesday so il mention it. why do you think she does it??

Sorry to hear of her accident :( Is she a Raggy pup? She looks like him!
Anyway, the symptoms you describe are very common in jrts! It is stress/anxiety/shock/discomfort related. She is probably stressed and still in shock from her accident and the fact she is now strapped up and not back to normal. I wouldn't be overly concerned. Is she on pain killers? If not it may be she is in some pain and could do with some metacam to keep her a bit happier.

yes she is a raggy pup!! :D she was the only white one to come out and has his fantastic personallity! she is on tramadol for pain relief, she cant get around the house and i have to hold her up with a towel when she goes to the loo but half the time she doesnt go and then will go on the puppy mats in her bed, bit like shes incontinant, the vet did say theres a possibility of nerve damage round there though, i think shes getting frustrated now but she doesnt get the bandages off till saturday =( and were moving house this week so her surroundings are going to change!

Thought so! LOL
I would speak to the vet on wednesday then if you are still worried. Ring the vet before weds if it gets any more frequent or prolonged. She sounds to me like she is just a bit stressed and miserable....can't blame her really poor little love!

Also it could be that she needs the loo but knows she cant really move or get up to go. One of my terriers does it in the car when she needs the loo and knows she can't just go in the car! It's my signal to pull over before she has an accident!! LOL Have you tried taking her out when she starts panting and shaking?

shes not impressed about being bedbound for a very active pup she is!

i did during the night last night and she had a wee then settled down for the night, but today i went to the loo ad came back down to find her sat by the door wanting to go out, i took her out and she did nothing, i took her out about 6 times and she did noting but has now gone in her bed. she started the panting when i bought her back in, she settled eventually but keeps weeing in her bed, which im not bothered by im glad shes going and iv lined her bed with puppy matts so just change them when she wees. this puppy nursing is really tireing lol. the vets are kindly having her for me on wednesday on the cheap while we move house. just be glad when she has her leg back so she can go wee and pooh by herself.
