Are you talking about cubbing or hunting?
I'm assuming by field boots, you mean long boots with laces at the ankle and by dress boots, long boots without laces??
Personally, I would say dress boots - laced boots are more showjumpery, non laced much more traditional
If yoiu're talking cubbing, then gaiters are perfectly good!
