This morning I was later than usual on checking my horses, I had an exam today and was trying to get in some last min cramming...mid morning I thought I'd check the horses and have some good luck cuddles before I set off for the 2 hour drive to uni.
Only both my horses had gone - there live out 24/7 and the panic set in. The field is down a private lane, on a private estate. I just don't know if they managed to open the gate themselves and wedge it open or if someone was trying to steal my horses?
On Tuesday morning, I checked them first thing to find my boy the wrong side of the fence. I opened the gate and he trotted back in.
The fencing is a bit brittle and varies from old wooden post and rail to barbed wire and posts. I just can't work it out. Is someone messing around or is this just a coincident.
Thankfully both horses have been found - over 2 miles away after crossing a major trunk road.
Obviously my main concern is their safety, so I have got a new padlock and chain so at least no one can just open the gate. But if 'they' want the horses it's hardly going to stop them. Oh and one is a coloured.
Any advise/ sense of perspective most welcome.
Just off to go and check on them again....but i'll be back online soon.
thanks.
