so i went to weston lawns yesterday [report on here somewhere] and when i got home to take horsey off the lorry she had thick white snot dripping everywhere
lumps all over the lorry looked kinda like sticky glue
fed and watered her and left this morning she still has snot but its clear?
should i worry about this? there was nothing different in the lorry that could of started this?

I think (but I could be wrong) that clear or white snot is generally nothing to worry about. Mine quite often has a runny nose (clear) in the morning.

Sometimes mine gets this if she has been in a dusty environment. Was the surface there dusty? Could have been enough to give her a bit of a snotty nose. Does she have any other symptoms, is she well in herself, is it even out of both nostrils, does she have a cough? If she is well, even discharge that isn't coloured or smelly and doesn't have a cough then I would be inclined to put it down to dust. If any of those things aren't the case then poss an infection, virus etc could be the cause, in which case I'd have the vet out to check her over.

As others if no cough probably nothing to worry about - if she starts coughing its probably a virus which is going round at the moment - mines just had it was prefectly well aside from the cough vet said he would clear it himself but he had tub of ventapulmin to help clear it quicker plus light walk exercise.

Another thing - mine is sometimes snotty if he's done fast work/been breathing hard, so it might have been from exertion at the competition.

mine had this about a week ago , start of with white snot then a cough , i had vet out to vacc and said to her about it she check his lungs etc and no sign of a infection or anything she said possible cause either a cold or virus ,but would clear on it on , she said keep an eye on him if it gets worse or he cant brethe then to call vet back out , a couple of days on human cough mixture has done the trick . no more snotty nose or cough

Basically because of the dry heat we've been having a lot of horses has had dust build up so when they do hard work it come out, if its like a grey/ white sort of colour nothing to worry about at all.

If it ever turns a yellow colour and is thick get the vet immediatly as this could mean she has an infection.

When I did my BHSII I had to give a lecture on 'Nasal Discharge' for my exam. (I kid you not) Generally anything clear or white is nothing to worry about, if it becomes yellow or even green it is time to call the vet, or if the discharge is accompanied by a persistant cough, raised respiration, or lack of performance.
Honestly try talking about snot for ten minutes with only fifteen mins to prepare!

If the white snot continues, I would get a vet. Mine has just been in hospital for a week after developing white snot over a month ago which antibiotics didn't cure. They found a lump in her sinuses, and she has had to have surgery - still awaiting histology results to find out whether a cyst or acute sinusitis. Worry about all mucus which isn't clear if it doesn't stop.....mine had no other symptoms - no weight loss, no temperature - just white/yellow snot and started head tossing when ridden.
