Ive seen a lovely pony that i want to have vetted and buy. the only thing is its really short in stride on back legs and not tracking up.

Im only use to a cobs lengthy stride so maybe pony strides are different?

Im dont want to pay £250 for a vetting if its obvious (to those that are more experienced than me) that theres a problem.

Pony did everything and didnt object or seem in any discomfort.

The pony is at very well to do bording school which owner takes term time and she has 3/4 lessons a week on, so surely would have thought an instructor would have noticed and called vet out if suspect (an doubt money isnt an object!) or whether its me being over cautious. Owner seems genuine nice family and am sure if they were aware of anything they would have said. pony is 8yrs old and a 13.2 nf

thanks in advance for your help

could be several factors, it has a sore/bad back, hence not striding out. It could be due to a bad saddle fit, if its pinching etc, it could be hock problems, or it could be the pony was just not working or using itself properly.

Did you have someone come with your for a 2nd opinion?

Was the pony definitly being ridden forward (obv if he was just bumbling along he wouldn't be tracking up)?
