Ok I know this is a bit of a random thing to ask but you're all the type of people who would be my clients (some of you already are in fact) and so you'll be the best people to give me an opinion on this...

As most of you probably know I run a horse sitting service for people who are either away on holiday or who just can't get up to the stables to muck out some days etc.

I was just on my website changing my travelling charges (damn you rising fuel costs!) and it came to my attention that my price list was a bit confusing.

The way I have it at the moment is this:

For if you're needing the whole day done (if you're on holiday or something)

Stabled horse (fed, turned out, mucked out, taken in, groomed, fed)= set amount

Field kept horse (taken in, fed, groomed, turned out, checked at night) = set amount

If you're needing just bits and pieces done

Individual services i.e. micking out = £, feeding = £ etc etc

But my question is this; should I just have one or the other? I'm thinking of getting rid of the "whole day" costs and just having the individual amounts. That way if someone maybe only needs me to poo pick their field kept horse then that's what they're charged for, not for taking in, grooming etc like the original price list included.

Does this sound like a better idea? Or would people prefer just to have the charge for "stabled horse" regardless of what needs done for that individual horse?

I really hope this all makes sense and I'm not rambling too much, lol.

I think you should have both, but should list individual prices too (had a nosey at your website) so that people can see that having a 'full day' works out cheaper than paying for it all separately.

Phew, thanks guys!

This whole business thing is great when it's just the actual looking after the horses, but it's stuff like prices and things that are a nightmare! I've been up and running since February and there was noone else doing this where I am but since I started there's been about 2 others started up and one of them has stolen my price-list word for word.

So it's just a case of making sure I'm better than them since our prices are the same

Which is fine cos I've already got heaps of loyal clients who have all told their friends about me but it's nice to have an external opinion from you lot

I think you should have both for flexibility - pick and mix and set charges for standard services (eg stabled, field, etc).

Where abouts are you?

Much prefer having all the prices listed so I can do my own calculations rather than trying to sort out on the phone.

Is grooming included in stabled livery? If so that needs to be added in, Also, field kept horse works out at as cheaper for the full service then if all services are added up as per individual list, but stabled livery comes to £20 whether you go with seperates or a full service - is this intended? It would make more sense to me (personally) if going for the full service worked out slightly cheaper than all separate bits added together.

The only other thing is to sort out the font sizing/background box for the title so the text isn't fall off the bottom.

Happihorse, I'm in Aberdeen.

Smash, yes grooming is included, I thought I'd already included that so thanks for reminding me!

I've made it so that the pricelist isn't written down on a web page but is available to download through a link. Makes the page a little less cluttered.

I'll change that font cos it's really annoying me having half of the title missing!!
