Hello,
Could I ask, what is the most minimal clip that I could/should give my horse?

He's a Welsh D, 16hh and is going to start hunting but he lives out.

I don't have to clip him but he's already getting sweaty very early because he's so fluffy!

Any advise would be great.
Thank you.

I would take off as much as you want...as long as he is rugged up well and warm it does not matter. Our hunters will all be hunter clipped and live out 24/7. It is better for him to have plenty off so he stays dry. Far better to have a dry horse than a wet one.

i would start with a hunter clip while waether is mild (and rug him) then on further clips a blanket or trace? my hunters are fully clipped and rugged (rain sheets at moment) and out 24/7. there is no reason why you cant fully clip and rug and leave out if well fed, well rugged and shelter, natural or man made! a hairy sweaty horse will lose condition and get cold far easier than a clipped and well rugged one! and hairy sweaty ones smell!!
