Never give up, just try something different! I had a year like that last year.

First my pony died at Christmas, then my horse Ralph had a tendon sheath injury. I was just bringing him back into work when we had a break in and lost all my tack.

Needed a break so I went to Thailand to meet my sister, we was out there when the bombs went off, my first holiday in 5 years........

As I came through customs, I turned on my phone and had a text to say phone as soon as you get this message...my heart sank as it was the girl who was looking after Ralph. He had strangles, he was in for 7 weeks.

I now have a new saddle and have been working Ralph for about a month, we used to do show hunter, but due to the hard ground I'm going to stick to dressage this year.

Have some time out from jumping, dressage can be fun and may even set her up for another season next year.....never say never

It may be that you are being overly cautious without realising it and this is transmitting to her.

But from what you say it doesnt sound as if she wasnt very experienced when she was laid off so her own confidence was possibly not secure.

If it was me Id go back to basics and do grid work etc. as if I was teaching her to jump again. Then see how it goes. It will also allow you to monitor the ligaments.

She may be reluctant to jump because of pain so you'd have to bear this in mind if she didnt gain her confidence back and continued to stop having done the baby stuff again.

Thanks for the reply,So sorry to here about your lovely horse. yes i think i will stay off the jumping for a while and see how we take to the dressage you never know we maybe good at it.
