Hello all :) I will start off by saying that I love my current loan mare and she isn't going anywhere! BUT she does mostly what she's told and I do like a bit of a challenge, something to fix, put some work im etc. So with the summer holidays coming up and loads of spare time and nice weather (hopefully), I was thinking maybe get a project?? It'd be just for the summer as I don't have time or money for two in the winter!
So I have just been offered a mare, that needs bringing back into work, she also bucks, everything has been checked and there's no underlying physical cause for the bucking, so its pure excitement/naughtiness.
The people are offering me the horse, to have and treat as my own until the end of summer, and they will pay the bills throughout summer apart from shoes but the mare only has fronts on. So I could possibly have the summer working on a project without the financial commitment?
I'd have my current mare to compete and do loads of fun crazy things with but then i'd have another mare as a bit of a challenge too.
I still don't know whether I should do it or not? My heart is screaming yes and squealing with excitement for the new challenge but my head is ummmming and ahhhhing about it.
So what do you think? Good idea or bad idea??

yes I will, I've done it before with loan horses, yes it breaks my heart but it gets easier everytime, plus it takes aaaaaagggeeeess to build a proper bond with most mares so I wont have made a proper bond with her by then, and i'll have my other mare :)

Well, at least they are paying for it, it can't hurt to try! Are they going to sell after your hard work? I suppose its nothing lost even if they do and maybe next summer you'll feel better equipped to buy one to sell on.

That's what I was thinking they're going to earn a profit on all your hard work! Then again, if they are paying for her basically you are just going to be enjoying her?!

I'm too soft so probably say just go for whatever makes you happy!

I'm also happy with them selling her afterwards :) I know it sounds silly as I will put in all the hard work and get nothing out of it, but I will get something, the thrill of a challenge and seeing a horse transform, and having the fun of fixing it, then I can be proud of what I achieved and I can watch someone enjoy a horse that I know is now schooled/fixed, with no issues and having a great time enjoying life :D That's what I did with my current mare, she's my soul mate so not going anywhere but I am slightly bored of her doing as she's told all the time lol :D

I think I will go for it :D I've received pictures and vids and so far so good :D They're only 35miles away from us so not very far to travel to see her either :)

Haha! I think you have made your own mind up. Sounds perfect then, I'd definitely go for it :D

Good luck xx

Nothing to lose except there is the possibility of this 'naughty' mare hurting you and then you won't be able to have fun with your own horse. Then again maybe I'm just the over cautious type!
