I have a 12h2 pony who i bought for a couple of kids on the yard, the kids are now showing no interest so i am thinking, rather than try sell him in a difficult market , maybe i should put him out on loan. I would want him to stay at my yard but i have seen so problems with people loaning horses i thought i would see what the general opinion was on here. He is only 4 but very safe and an absolute saint in the box. He would do showing but again, would it be safe to let him be taken off the yard to show (incase he didnt come back).we are in essex and only a stones throw from a few show venues so i could go with him just in case, anyway any opinions and suggestions on where to advertise would be great :)

True there are some horror stories out there about loaning ponies, but there's also lots of success stories!! :)
The only thing is I know of 3 4 y/o ponies at about the same level waiting to be loaned I just wonder if the market isn't quite right. Try advertising in your local tack shops, spread the word round to your fellow liveries see if they know of anyone.

Just to add, if he is staying on the yard, you can keep a close eye on him, and don't forget he's YOUR pony at the end of the day. You can be around as much or as little as you want, you don't have to leave him with the loaner until you're happy and draw up a good contract (there's a template on the BHS website).
