Should I report her again?

Some of you may remember my posts about two ponies kept in the field to mine who were abandoned. Well a while ago I reported them to the ILPH (including pictures which showed how over weight they were and the state of their feet) stating that I had the farrier come out and that the land owner was unable to trace the owners. I passed a number for the equine lawyer association to the land owner and he has since spoken to them and spoken to the ponies owners. He has told her to get rid of them off him land asap (this was several weeks ago - I am staying out of it now as I was unable to do anythign with the ponies incase something happened and I became liable). And to my knowledge the ponies are still there.

Should I report the owner again as I really want her to be prosecuted! She deserves punishment for leaving two ponies for almost a year, not working them/worming/grooming/vet or farrier attention. Both ponies were still suffering when I saw them last around a month ago.

But as nothing was done the last time I reported them to the ILPH, should I do it again? Is it worth it?

I certinaly wouldln't attempt to report her to the RSPCA!!! So no worries there

Go to the ILPH again, how long are the feet?

Rosiep I do not know how long they are now. but this is what they looked like before I had the farrier out but that was the 10th of April when i brought them down to my yard, please excuse the mess

I would contact the ILPH again as they now have the backing of the new welfare act behind them.

The feet are a disgrace but how fat is that grey, ILPH that is a disgrace

The problem is that by treating them yourself (farrier) you have removed the problem and so stopped any of the welfare agencies from being able to do anything. They can only take action when things get really very bad, so by feeding hungry horses/providing treatment etc you just prolong their suffering overall. We'd all love to whisk animals out of bad situations but the agencies have to work within the law, and the law requires serious cruelty/suffering not just being on the skinny/fat/neglected side, however long-term. It's best just to monitor the situation (very hard I know) and keep reporting to them, then when it gets to a state where action can legally be taken, they will.
