Should I spend £145 on a pair of wellies?

Its what they are worth to YOU

Some people struggle to keep their fuzzy in DIY, others are fine with full livery & 2 or more lessons a week.

Some have Rambo's, others have 2nd hand w/beeta's

Some have Jimmy's, others have 1 pair of shoes from the market.

Your bank account = your choice :)

Happy shopping! :)

Well my first pair of Le Chameau basic wellies arrived a few days ago and were worn today for the first time :) I ummed and ahhhed about spending so much but I knew they had a reputation for lasting and I am sick of going through £30 pairs in a matter of months.
They are more than just wellies - felt like I had a proper soled boot on today and I didn't slip in the places I normally slip in shoes :)
I have slim-ish calf and very small ankles but I have a problem with swollen ankles and feet at the moment so it has taken a good go with the boot jack to get them off!!
I think they will last you for years so if you can afford them go for it....

I have had my Le Chameau for years. I'm pretty certain I didn't pay that much though.

Anyway, that's beside the point. They are great wellies and look as good as new when scrubbed up. I would definitely recommend them :).

Thank you for the excellent and sensible advice!! :)
Yunalesca my boy would dump me in the ditch if I put bling anywhere near him he would be so embarassed lol. Although I have seen a fab diamante browband...

Doratheexplorer-loving your logic!!

Defiantly worth every penny, got my first pair 16 years ago, last winter they let water in,,,, so make you own mind up :)

I am saving for another pair and the leather version ad will part with my money happily.

Considering I got through hunters every 6 months :)

Mine have lasted a good few years. I managed to get mine from a shop on eBay so I got them slightly cheaper. Brilliant boots for winter nice and toasty feet :0)

You may say that !! But I spent money buying 2 pairs of hunters peg year , do the maths !!!

£150 over 16 years.... So they actually owe me nothing , considering I wear them from October to march none stop daily every day.

I still accept they are expensive but work out in the end better value for money :)

A friend of mine judges at shooting competitions & spends hours standing in wet, cold fields. He bought some & says they were one of his better investments as he never has wet or cold feet. If you can afford them then why not. If you spend a lot of time in the cold & wet at stables then why not have dry & warm feet if you can. :)

Why not? Unless you will have to feed the family on bread and beans for a week or so to make it up :o

I think nothing of spending $100 on a belt, or $80 on a straw hat :o (Shhhhhhhhhh...) and as I have to import my boots Heaven only knows how much I spend on them.

Wet, cold feet make for a miserable time at the yard ;)

I spent £65 on a pair of wellies a few years ago, they lasted me 4 months so no I wouldn't risk £145 ;)

However, it is that bit of experience that we all have that can do or die a situation. I have a pair of Rimfrost Riders about to go through their 5th winter this year, no leaks, splits and I love them but some folks just hate them! :D

Oooh, yes - I had mine for 10 years! Now, could you please convince me that I should spend £195 on the pair of Ariat Bromonts I've been lusting after for the last year?!

How do you go through so many hunters? I still have mine from when I was 15.

you either still have them boxed up in your room as they are now too small for you to wear or you only ever wore them once round town to make you look like some posh country gal who has never seen a muddy gateway in her life! .........lol

or they are right tatty but you are just too tight to get rid of them hee hee

I have two pairs :D

A neoprene lined pair that I use every single day, have had them for years but the insides have blistered because I also ride in them :o

And a full zip, leather lined pair that I save for shooting ;)

Personally I wouldn't really want anything else - they are fantastic value for money :)

PS: If you do get them, then buy a can of the Chemaeu spray to keep them in good nick :)

I have had my leather lined Le Chameau wellies for 10 years and they are still going strong, I wear them evryday on DIY livery so they've had a tough life. My mum is always buying cheap wellies and I'm trying to persuade her to have Chameau ones as I'm sure it would be cheaper for her.

The latter describes me to a 'T' :D

I only buy stuff when people can see my toes, arse or tits through it.

p.s. because I am a mean b*, I "oil" my rubber things over summer and keep in cool dark place. Rubber hates warmth and sunlight. It crumbles and perishes. That's how to keep wellies going for 17 years :)
