Should I spend £145 on a pair of wellies?

Personally I wouldn't, BUT then again, I was reluctant to spend £65 or so on some muckers and they were TOTALLY worth it!
It is your money though, and if the boots are really nice and durable, they might be worth it. OR you could just get wine and chocolate :p

Normally i am a bargin basement sort of person, but 3 years ago I needed new wellies and at the RIHS they had a stand that just sold wellies and yard boots. I tried on several pairs and the most comfy was Aigle which was about £120, so I bought them. Have not regreted it, I live six months of the year in them so if you work it out on an hourly rate they have not cost me a lot. So if you find them comfy go for it. Hunters on the other hand are now absolute s***, the last lot lasted 3months.

Hell yes get them !! ( spoken as a true welly trasher )

I FOUND a pair in my old tack room 7 years ago and no one ever came back to claim them so when I left 3 years later they came with me - I gave them to my Dad as they were to big for me - he is a green keeper and a dog walker and generally loves dossing about in mud ! He loves them and they are still going strong.

I just got my self a pair of ariat mudbuster (?) wellies in the spring so far so good but min wear ! If they work even half as hard as the Bromonts I have had for 3 years I'll be more than happy :-)

I have had my le chameus for 11 years and they are still good. Worn for at least 9 monghs of the year and I work on farms so no easy shift for them, been ridden in and covered in every rt hing possible. The rubber is only now showing minor cracking. In my mind well worth the money!

do you not think you might be better pending a bit more and getting dubarrys ? i got mine a few months ago and i cant praise them enough :D

I would never spend that much on wellies. I wear them every day and traipsing up and down the roads wears the soles out on them (no matter how expensive they are).

The boots that lasted the best for me were Derby House one's. We paid £15 a pair (on sale from £21 I think) they are those that look like this http://www.newitts.com/product/IT01...gn=Google+Product+Search&utm_content=IT017611 but the Derby House version. They lasted 3 and a half years of being worn every single day and ridden in throughout the winter, I know they aren't everyone's cup of tea but I love them!

No, get a pair of muckers with wellington boot socks from the sock company - total should be around £60 and spend the £85 on a really nice gilet for riding

Don't really do wellies, now. I find that my feet are much warmer in the leather 'yard boots'. Just got a pair of Dublin Pinnacles and love them. They're similar to the Ariat Grasmeres, so I was quite smug to see a pair of those last week and realise that I preferred mine.

As for wellies, well, I still have the pair I bought in 2000 (or was it 2001? When the euro was concurrent with the franc!). 7 euros at Carrefour. Back in those days the euro was worth a lot less, too! Never found a pair as good, although they're not warm enough for deep winter, hence the yard boots!

Oooh, yes - I had mine for 10 years! Now, could you please convince me that I should spend £195 on the pair of Ariat Bromonts I've been lusting after for the last year?!

Now, that I can do! Can't recommend the Bromonts highly enough - so comfortable in and out of the saddle and my feet simply refused to feel cold in them all of last winter - and that was with just a pair of thin cotton socks on. Marvellous boots...

I have to say, the Chameau welllies are great too - quite honestly, every day country footwear is something that it is well worth spending on to get it right. If you spend as much time in them as most equestrian/country people do, they really do earn their keep.

Your money - your choice! :D

I always said I wouldn't pay the £££ for a pair but OH got me some for a Christmas present - I think they are now in their 10th/11th year and still going strong. When they eventually pass on to the muck heap in the sky I think I will get another pair to replace them!

I have Aigle as desperate for Le Chameau but could not quite justify it. Aigles were a good compromise.

I work in an agri college. The students start off in horrible Nora's and before the end of the winter term they all have Le Chameau or Aigle.

I loathe cheap wellies, they are uncomfortable, have rubbish soles and split. I hate hunters with a passion as seemed to spend more time slipping than anything else. My Aigles are 5 years old and abused and are coping just fine.

I have a Le Chameau coat it is now 15 years old and still going strong and waterproof. At the time I nearly cried over the cost but its amazing and I have never needed to replace it.

Thank You, Camilla! Exactly what I wanted to hear:D
