This is my mare jumping 1.35m yesterday, just turned 5 what do you's think? I dont think i am as 'flat' as i should be always in 'safety' position!
I would like to compete further in bsja aswell as eventing, but never feel i 'look' as good as others as i always feel awkward jumping! Should also sack my photographer!

Bugger how you look, it doesn't matter at all! If you start comparing yourself to others you become self conscious and stop riding effectively. As long as you are safe and the horse is comfortable jumping for you who gives a stuff?!
You are in balance with your horse in a secure position and have allowed with your hands over the fence, I really don't think you have anything to worry about.

Thanks for that, they are very motivational words! Only since i got her she has taking me further than my old mare have i been concerned, but i think i will take your advice, enjoy it! thankyou

As above really! I've seen far worse jumping, poor horses & ponies being yanked in the mouth over the fence & other horrors.

You both look great, her especially considering she's only 5

Ditto-

Get someone to video you if possible - you will be amazed how good you look - I video'd my novice husband on Sunday cantering in the school, in his head he was a sack of spuds, he couldnt believe how much he had improved until he saw it for himself......

ps when i am out hacking I try and catch a look of me and horsie in peoples living room windows and conservatories...you always look better than you think!!!

i agree with ajn.... you're a postiitive rider, with good hands and a much safer position than lots of people you see show jumping.

everytime a rider flings themself up the horse;s neck over a fence they unbalance the horse, and if they do it at the wrong moment and the horse runs out or puts in a stop they will go flying.

keep up the good work - smashing horse BTW, can i have him? ;-)
