I have a 15 hand Cob who is safe as safe but has no umph

He is great to hack and I feel total in control etc but had a lesson today and he is just hard work

Seen a horse I like the look of should I go uo a level

Help please!!!!!

Ask your instructor if they think you are ready.
There is always a strong market for safe kickstart cobs so you shouldn't have a problem selling. There is no harm in trying the horse out to see if you are happier with more oomph!

Theres nothing wrong with selling him if you feel like you have outgrown his capabilities

But

Only go see the other horse now if you can afford to keep two while you sell the other, if you cant afford two - wait till you sell the cob first before searching for something else.

Make sure he goes to a great home -bless!

Best of luck - its nice to hear that someone is selling to upgrade instead of being overhorsed - xx

Is this a new horse or one you've had for a while? I always find it's easier to get more 'oomph' from a laid back horse than to try steady one down personally but if you feel you want to do more and your horse isn't going to match what you want to do then yes maybe look for something more suitable.

Not judging your riding capabilities here, but is it possibly a case of the horse doesnt go off the leg, and keep going unless you are continually nagging?
If so there is schooling techniques that can help with this. Even the most laid back of horses can be taught to get up and go!!
