Should we go bigger? Is he finding it too easy?

Jumped Blue round .85m Trailblazers at the weekend (see report in CR) and he just flew round it. I pretty much just had to point him at the jumps and try and slow him down in between

he met every jump spot on with the take off points (without hardly any help from me really) and landed on correct leg after each jump too. I think what i had trouble with was the speed he was going! Think jump off speed!

We were competing BN and Trailblazers up to .95m last year, and stopped jumping in October to concentrate really hard on improving Blue's flatwork, this seems to have paid off now as his canter is far far better.

My ques now is, was the .85m class a bit small for him?!

Because we didn't jump all summer last year, and only did 1 maybe 2 shows in October, i always take mine down a class if they've had a long period of time off

Fair enough, I can't talk as I'm thinking of taking D to minimus jumping for her first time out

. I'd say in that case see how he takes the clear round jumping and take it from there

I would pop him back up to 95 if he's jumping fine. If they are confident and know how to do it then i do think it really makes any difference to the horse (providing you feel the speed is safe!

) Being a bit bigger may make him think a little more too and maybe steady down?!
