My horse recently started rearing in my lessons when asked for turn on the forehand and this was very out of character. My instructor suggested I get him looked at by a physio and when I did she found that he was very uncomfortable through his shoulder probably caused by a slip in the mud in the field. After this session he felt much more forward to ride but the rearing continued and when fully flexing the leg he continued to shoot his head up high and lean back on his hinds. After a second session she said that although it wasnt perfect it was a lot better but he continued to react in this way. I have since tried stabling him and tried him on some bute which has lessoned the reaction slightly but not alltogether. I havent ridden him since the second session but its difficult to tell if its in his head or if it is actually really hurting. He hasnt shown any lameness at any time. I know I need to get the vet out to assess him and I have this booked for next week but I just wondered if anyone has any comments or similar experiences.
