My cob will be rising 4 and really hoping to bring her back into work feb time and start thinking about having a dabble in the cob classes in the late spring/summer :) these will be local shows but there is a bigger agriculture show in august that i would like to work toward.
So what would the judges be looking for in a LW show cob? what would they want the show to consist of?
She is skewbald, classed as a LW cob with 8.5inches of bone and has been measured at 15hh, she is hogged and will be done again before the season and her feather will be taken off to and her tail will be sorted out. We have a very smart WH saddle which shows off her shoulder and a smart WH numnah for underneath it. I have my tweed (green) navy flesh hat, brown gloves, cream jods, cream shirt, green tie and black boots so ready to roll :D
I need to start thinking of bridles, am after a smart hunter bridle, recommendations would be nice, also any pics of turn out for show cobs would be great too.
Thanks :D

There is a huge amount of information here:

www.theshowring.info - go to the Cob section.

Providing none of the shows you enter are HOYS or RIHS qualifiers, then you can do some of them on a day ticket - this means that if the class is affiliated to the BSHA, then you do not have to be a member to compete in the class. Although the local shows will not be affiliated, it may be that your local agri is - so you will need to check this out.

If you have a day ticket, then you do not need to have your horse measured by the JMB which will save a fortune.

You need a workmanlike bridle - with thicker leather - Fylde do cob/hunter bridles and will make them up to ensure the size is exactly right for you. You may want to order a thicker noseband.

Your turnout sounds fine - make sure you wear either spurs or dummy spurs to complete the turnout.

There are pics of show cobs on the above link.
