Show colours

Need ideas! I have a chestnut horse and I need to pick colour for his cross country stuff but I cant decide! I have him in red for showjumping but I find most colours just don't look right.
Any ideas?

Green or blue?

Maybe two shades of the same colour eg pale blue and navy?

For XC, Al uses a plain brown numnah and a navy blue baselayer and then has a very vivid hat silk. The plain bits mean the hat silk is acceptable (bright pink stars and things!) because it's not overwhelming...
