so its time i buy myself a new hat

since all the hat regs have change i am a bit out of touch

so i want a hat to do showing dressage and hacking in

preferable navy

recommend me ones to try

i did go to the local tack shop but she was trying to push a £400 sparkled thing on it, i dont think it would be aloud in the show ring some how!

I have a Charles Owen "velvet" one (not velvet but you know what I mean), I think a Hampton in navy for showing and dressage. It has a flesh coloured strap. Did treat myself to a different one for dressage but that went walkies somewhere unfortunately so it is back to the one for both disciplines.

What make do you have already and are you happy with the fit? If so, I'd go for the show hat version of that e.g. Champion hats fit me well and I have a Ventair skull cap for everyday so I looked for a suitable Champion hat. As I was showing M at the time I went for a traditional velvet style. I'm probably not going to be doing so much showing now so while the one I bought is fine for dressage, I'd probably have chosen another style if I was buying now. It would still be a Champion though as I know they fit me.

I may be wrong but years ago the Ventair fitted me, but nothing else Champion did, they were much too round. I ended up with the Charles Owen SJXP for a velvet hat, no idea if they still make it.

Charles Owen Hampton - the Fian made me look like a very fat faced Mr Plod (though I do have a fat face, the Hampton balances me out)
