A family not too from from where the horses are stabled have a disabled son who does dressage to quite a high level (walk/trot tests I think). Anyway - something happened to his dressage horse, and they were looking for a horse that he could hack just to keep his riding up whilst they were searching for a new dressage horse. He came over to see Bob, rode him in the school and got on really well with him, so off Bob went (the first time that he has been "lent" to anyone since we had him). Well, their search for a new dressage horse continues, but in the meantime my sister had a call from them - "is it OK if we register Bob with British Dressage?"
So - Bob is now registered with BD, and did his first competition a few weeks back - he won the Grade 2 21 with 66.6% (all the 6s - how appropriate for Bob!) and was third in the Grade 2 FEI PE. And all in a snaffle (damned if I am riding him in a snaffle!)
Here are some pics of Bob the Dressage Horse in action (new career at the age of 18 years old ...)
This is really for all of those people who were saying a few weeks ago that a show horse is not capable of doing dressage, that show horses are too fat and are ruined before they reach the age of 10, and for those people who love to see porky little horses trying their heart out and having the time of their lives!
