I'm looking for a show/hunter style bridle for my Irish draught but struggling to find one that fits. He's only just in a full size bridle but I'm having problems getting a throatlash that fits properly. I can fasten them all but none fasten in an aesthetically good place (buckle at eye level to match the cheek pieces/noseband buckles). Does anyone else with an ID or draughty/cob type have a hunter bridle that fits well? Or know where I could get one? Doesn't have to be new, just brown and with a flat browband and noseband at least 1" wide?

Perhaps just get the parts you need to make your bridle fit - Flyde will make things to measure and i dare say English Bridles would too

Thanks, I've tried that but things ended up being slightly different shades of brown. Plus he's only 4 so still has growing to do so was looking for a cheap alternative until he's fully matured!

Jeffries do a "custom fit" for bridles, I had to do it for mine as he is in between cob and full size. So you can buy say, cob cheek pieces and full size headpiece. I took a bridle that was a good fit into the tack shop and between us we decided on the parts that were needed. Worked perfectly.

Or have a bridle made, it shouldn't be any more expensive than, say, a Jeffries. People who do this are sometimes at County shows in the crafts tent.

I had a sabre full size bridle on my IDx, Fitted perfectly event the throat lash. I did however invest in a custom made 2" noseband to match when I started showing my mare at county level, bujt kept the sabre bridle, I bought it for £60 2nd hand and spent 2 weeks treating it to get rid of the rain marks. But after it looked like new.
One of the best bridles I have ever had.
