I am a bit like the person looking for advice on show jackets for dressage but I need advice please on Show Hunter attire/tack.
My horse is an 16 2 IDx so we plan to do the Middleweight SH at a local show at the weekend, he hasn't done it before with me, and although his conformation isn't great his attitude, manners and obedience are excellent. We won't get placed but he will behave well but because it is just a bit of fun, we won't be making a habit of showing, so I don't want to spend a lot!!! So my questions are:

1. He usually goes in a hanging snaffle. Is that ok? (Don't even mention double bridles guys!!)
2. He goes nicely in his dressage saddle, rather better than his jumping one, so can I use that?
3. Can I use a full saddlecloth in white (he is a grey) or must it be brown?
4. I have a black show jacket but nothing in tweed. Can I wear it along with a black velvet hat and long black boots and beige jods and show shirt with stock? Don't have a shirt suitable for a tie!
Thank you in advance

At local level you would get away with all of the above (I have won in most of the above the above on my hunter! I would use a numnah rather than saddle cloth, and I've never seen anyone do it in a dressage saddle, but it doesn't really matter). Go and suss it out, take feedback, and if they think you could do better in future, get the gear! Enjoy it - its for fun!x
