i have finally admitted that my tweed jacket doesn't really fit me anymore...its a little on the...er....tight side  but i don't have shed loads to fork out for a new one...so currently browsing ebay but i have no idea what size i should be looking for? i'm a size 12- how would that convert to jacket sizes? sorry, probably a very silly question

As an indication I always go with size 36 is a 12, 38 is a 14, 40 is a 16................but do try as I find different 'makes' vary so much especially back width.

To complicate things firther...........If you're thinking of Pikeur, try one on before you buy! I'm a size 14 jacket but have had both Pikeur and Cavallo and had to have the equivalent of a size 18 (I was mortified......so cut the size label out!!!!!!).

haha...i haven't had that problem with pikeur- my black jacket is a 10 i think...maybe a 12....is it not because of the euro sizing?

No idea why, but I wasn't very happy about it ;)!! My sanity is that my Musto show jacket fits (if anything it's quite generous!).

I'm confused with it all at the minute.

My current jacket (approx 10 yrs old) is a size 10 and states its a 36 and as i fancied a new one i thought ill just get another 10. Apparently not that easy, a size 12 is now a 36 so does that mean i should still get a 10 (and it maybe smaller than before) or get a 12 because its 36!!?!??

Think i may have to just bite the bullet and go shopping and try a few on, grrrr!

I think show jacket sizing is so hard to get right without trying on. They give you the chest size but there's loads of variation with back width, waist size, shoulder width......

if you are hunting for an ebay bargain then just ask the person selling to measure the jacket when laid flat - then you can compare to measurements to a jacket you already have. At least that way you can make an educated guess as to wether it would fit or not. Sizing and fit varys so much across different brands that it makes the size info almost worthless!!

Im a size 12 in normal clothing but my show jacket is a size 38inches. My bra size is 34E/F. Am buying a tweed soon and going for the same size so I can wear a back protector under if it needs be :)
