Show jumping whips

We’re not really jumpers, we just go out to unaffiliated Clear Round competitions occasionally. I carry a simple leather covered showing cane & use it to touch shoulder when needed to help keep him straight. My local venue is now running all SJ to BS rules. Do I need to buy a SJ whip or can I keep using my showing cane? I never smack him with it.

You need a padded baton between 45-70cm long. There are a few other stipulations so it's worth checking the rule book

You will need a SJ one, I’m surprised you have been allowed to use something different up until now

It’s been batons unaffiliated for years, I’ve probably not jumped for 3 or 4 years and I have a baton.
