I have my suzie, westie dog come self-appointed garden shovel. She is in need of a haircut, but I refuse to have the traditional westie skirt due to it being impractical and she wont be a show dog.

Can I please see your doggy haircuts for inspiration for practicality?

Thanks!!

:D

This is Mickey, looking more like a Westie should do...

And this is Mickey in the summer, he was roasting hot, so the clippers came out and he had a number 2 all over... Ended up looking more like Tin Tin's dog rather than a Westie. But he was nice and cool and thats all that matters :) I tend to keep his coat short with little skirt, simply because he spends 90% of his life caked in crap lol

He is so damned handsome!

Had suzie done short in summer but wasnt sure it was considered ok to do. I had a spaniel before and he had short back and sides most of the time :D

I like her coat short, more comfortable when chasing her greyhound BF lol!

Mickeys top pic he looks very dapper!

thanks xx

She looks absoloutely fab with her hair cut short...

I think it's much better for them in the summer, keeps them nice and cool... and in the winter its much easier to keep them clean with a short coat!

Mickey has an extensive wardrobe of 'Jackets' that he wears all winter long, he even has a pink one (He is in touch with his fem side lmao), keeps the chill off him and it means I can keep him short & clean :)

His latest Wax Jacket for the wetter days...

I love his wax jacket! do you find he gets too warm some days?

Haha the jumper only survived cos she gave up trying to eat it off herself after 10 mins (much to our amusement) Think i need the hat and glasses next :D

Think short may be the way forward...going to get her booked in asap

Thanks! xx

He just wears his jackets on cold or very wet days... but I do find that he gets hot in the house if he isnt clipped at this time of the year with the central heating being on... but I try to keep on top of his clip, much to his disgust lol I have to clip him myself because I think he would eat anyone else... he might look cute and fluffy but below is what he does when he doesn't like something/someone lol

Hahahaha! :D x

as a dog groomer i do short cuts all year round. As long as they live indoors then its fine as when they're outside they're running around to keep warm anyway and when inside I presume you have the heating on! When they get older I suggest that they either keep their own coat or have a coat to put on when outside but I dont see why they cant have a short coat all their lives.
