I need help in knowing what makes a good show pony.
I brought a pony as a summer project last year, a stunning 143cm bay mare, who i've been told is the right stamp to be a show pony. I'm hoping to sell her in the next couple of weeks, and want to know what showing people look for in the perfect show pony so when buyers come to look at her i kinda know what i'm talking about and understand them.
And if anyone is interested in a nice novice show pony as i'm far to big to show her, then to contact me as she looks like all the show ponies on the results pages in the horse and hound to me! she also had a crackin jump so I guess wld make a whp in the future.
Help me on what I should be looking for!

I would want to see an in hand record of success personally if I were buying a show pony.

I would hang on to her and show her in hand at some good quality shows in the early summer. If she's going to be good, she should be placed in hand I would have thought. Then take it from there.

I am also an amateur and always looking for knowlegable advice, I think you would be wise to take her to a producer to be prepared for selling and ask them for advice also. Either that or contact the BSPS, Ponies UK or NPS and they might be able to suggest a showing clinic so you can take her and get her assesed. Good luck

See if there are any showing clinics near you you could take her to? I went to one recently it was really good.

Basically , good conformation, Head isnt too big , good straight legs, Good topline, correct muscle development, Something that says wow look at me .

Also has to move well and move straight .

This little pony is 13hhs, she has been at our livery yard, the people that own her do very little with her which is such a shame as she would be a fantastic first ridden pony , her paces are fab and well she does have the wow factor in my opinion .

This is me and my son doing a lead rein class with her , it was her first time out and she won the class .

i'd like to see the saddle put on a couple of inches further back.

and the ponies tummy slightly less porky.

nice enough pony.

Shes a little fatty isnt she , unfortunately not my pony , the saddle is a sh1te fit to be honest lol again not my pony and I had borrowed the saddle .

The people that owned her where wanting me to work with the pony and then let their child ride, they only took an interest when she won the first show , thats when I decided to buy Tiarnan tommy .

I wasnt going to put the work and then for them to come along and ride and basically take all the glory
