1. Are some show ponies body clipped < sorry if it's a silly question!
2. whats the different between a show pony, riding pony and show hunter pony?

Thanks in advanced

Do you mean clipped in the summer or winter? No, they are not clipped in the summer. In fact their producers spend hours grooming, strapping and rugging to encourage a fine summer coat - clipping it would ruin it! Riding ponies are very fine (imagine shrunk TB) and therefore have a very fine coat in the summer. Show Hunters are only very slightly heavier built - lets say the difference between TB Derby winner and TB Cheltenham gold cup winner! Again, I have never seen one of these clipped in the summer, in fact the only horses I have ever seen clipped showing in the summer are some cobs. I also assume you mean the body and not the legs, ears, whiskers etc - that is a whole different argument that can be found somewhere on here in the archive!!

Take a look at the following web sites for more info on different types of animals... ES photography, fred the cat and equinational.

I suppose it depends on what they are doing through the winter ie will they get too hot, but I saw a photo of a top show pony where it only had a bib clip and 1/2 the head ie up to the bridle line. Difficult to explain but the bib went up behind the ears, took out the ears and half the head - looked very very smart.
