Hi
Malachy (14hh grey Connie) is going to his 1st show in 2weeks. It's a showjumping show, quite a big one. He's doing the 60cm class. I have never had anything to do with horse shows. How does he need to look? I'm hoping just 'clean and tidy ?
He will be in a dressage saddle as he doesn't have a jumping one yet. He has a new turquoise saddle pad, is this colour ok? His mane is quite short so I'm hoping just brushed is ok? And his tail has lots of little hairs at the top, do I need to get rid of these?
TIA

For jumping clean and tidy will do nicely a showing class is a bit more hard work with bathing drying and keeping clean with snowy white tail and gleaming coat. If he gets really dirty a bath or hot cloth and a good groom should be fine its not his appearance that matters but his jumping ability. I hate my grey going out even slightly dirty but that is my OCD

Thanks. I had hoped that was the case but didn't want to embarrass the rider! :) Will bath him and wash mane and tail, was thinking of using my purple shampoo.

Sounds good but if it is really cold and he lives out a good groom really is okay. I am just very fussy dont even like her hacking out dirty but have ocassionally had to shut my eyes in bad weather. Having said that she is having a deep clean hot bath tomorrow as we are supposed to be showing Friday

We are in Perth Australia and it never gets really cold here, just horrendously hot in summer! Thanks for your help :D

If you are going to wash him don't use any show shine/slippery spray on his body or mane afterwards.
