Drive up to Bristol especially for it (I'm a student at home, horse at uni).
Spent literally the WHOLE of Friday (9-6) with horse. tack cleaning, bathing, schooling, grooming etc etc for the show today.
The morning arrives and lorry is a big no no. end of day?
or not
YO offers to take us, load them up, off we go. I hop out to open yard gate and all hell breaks loose in the horse stalls with one horse down.
Off they come with a very stressed horsey and two rather bewildered ones so show cancelled.
Millie was fine and gleaming so I decided screw it, having given up Reading festival ticket and 3 days of my life to be here for the show I'm going to HACK there.
A 10 mile round journey!
So off I go in show gear, handbag on, tabard on top and a list of directions.
An hour and a half later I arrive with what I thought MUST be a tired horse after hacking on roads for 5 miles.
Bump into a friend with a lorry who welcomes us over and we pitch up there for the day.
Missed all classes except ridden M&M and thought horse would be too tired to jump bearing in mind a 10 mile round road journey so gave it a miss.
M&M was the last class and very late!
Warm up a little but, again, didn't want to overdo it!
In the ring we go, horse realises this and thinks SHOW RING=CANTER AND MY NEW EXTENDED CANTER. And starts jogging around as we all walk round.
'Proceed to trot' Millies cue to go into a bounding, bouncy canter managed a few bits of trot!
' Proceed to canter' A gorgeous sec D in front who I've seen before and is beautiful starts prancing and bucking about then Millies decides to CHARRRRGE.
Next thing we know they're neck and neck up the longside charging.
(Everyone else managed to stay safe and sane, just the welshes)
Judge calls us in and comments on what fun it looked like from the two monkeys.
The other wekshy did her show and pony was a little monkey then it was Millie's turn.
Manged to walk away in a straight line, then err off we went! Tried to trot but was nearing impossible then into the cantering where she was OK but VERY strong. Judge asks us all the extend so off I went. Oh lord.
She flew round the arena with a rocket up her bum, flat gallop then came skidding to a stop. I then just apologised profusely to the judge about her behaviour and she laughed!
Others were all fab.
Got pulled in fourth, judge was brilliant and thought the two cheeky monkeys were very funny and needed to act their age and contain themselves! Thought it was hilarious she hacked her for 5 miles and acted like that and she needed to be trotted 5 miles back to redeem herself!
Got back half 6ish and turned naughty pants out.
Back from the journey to Southampton!
Car feels a bit slow on the M4 and wouldn't accelerate but carried on to serivces to get fuel, then went again , seemed a bit funny to start but nevertheless was fine so off I go.
It then starts feeling slightly chuggy and wouldn't go past 70, alarm bells ringing!
Manage to get off at the exit and as I slow down the whole car starts violently shaking like it was going to explode! Couldn't even pull away properly but luckily manage to roll into the service station ,that happened to be there, without using the accelerator.
I had no phone as the battery had run out so feeling rather stranded!
Got to the payphone and the breakdown would get there at 25 past 10. Oh god.
So i sit in the cruddy cafe for 1 hr 40 mins waiting and they come tell me its undriveable and cables have gone and it needs to go on the back of the lorry back home.
So got driven home by breakdown man.
I have now got a phone with no charge, a car unmoveable which needs to get to a garage and VERY cheeky Welshie who made the whole day very enjoyable with her monster antics in the show ring and superb roadwork throughout the whole 10 miles.
A VERY long day!

Well done! Was that Tytherington? I wanted to take G but this weekend is our yard in-house show. The other D wasn't black by any chance, was it?

Yeah. there was two black ones who I've seen before. One with a small lad which is very nice and the other is the lovely mare Lla'something' Silk. She was being very cheeky!
And yes it was Tytherington, was a really nice show actually but the ground was awful :(
The pony that won the unreg M&M at WPCS won both inhand and ridden large breeds yesterday. The ridden was definitely placed in the right order though as the top two (new forests) were the only two to behave themselves!

Ah yes Silk is often naughty! If I hadn't had the yard show I would have taken G. Did the rider on the pony that won at WPCS have gloves on this time? She didn't last time and also carried a schooling whip, hence I was rather peeved at her being placed above me!!!
