Well Adina went to her second show today (at least we got there)!

SHe loaded really well again and travelled better with only mimimal scraping.

Got there in plenty of time and unloaded her straight away to walk her around and we literally had about 5 mins before we went in.

We did the Potential sports horse 3 year old class. She felt a little calmer today, not pulling at all but just taking it all in. There was a lot going on for her to contend with including a loose pony that went galloping down the side of the ring!

We were pulled in first place but I didn't show her that well, she stood over her shoulder a little because I was so busy trying to watch her for signs that she may go up, that her neck was extended right out to get the grass.

She then decided now was a good time to wave at the judge....it was impressive but very badly timed.

The trot was A LOT better than last time, I could actually let her have her head and she didn't drag me around like last time so was really pleased and she showed herself well but i think dont think i let her stride out as much as i could.

She came 4th in the end out of 4.

She loaded really well after and travelled back brilliantly again so was very pleased with her.

Any ideas or tips to stop her rearing? She only does it when she has to stand still the rest of the time she is fine. Does the manner of the horse effect the judges opinion or would it have been down to her paces/my bad showing etc?

Well done anyway! Yes manners will have an effect....mine got a severe telling off whenever he reared, flicking the rope onto his stomach worked well on bringing him down

A rope or whip on her stomach when she rears should eventually stop her doing it.

Yes, bad manners will definately be marked down in the show ring.

At least you got there this time tho!!

i would do it in the show ring. At the end of the day,she needs to learn not to do it.

Most judges would rather see you take it into hand instead of just ignoring it.

I have a connie that bucks in the ring, but i would never let him get away with it

I agree reprimand her in the ring, it may mean you wont be placed at that show but at least she will learn and hopefully stop it!!
