got very wet, but had loads of fun!!
i decided to take moses to a very low key fun show for some ring experience, he loaded and travelled well, we got there, and he was good about being mounted - he went through a quick - let's get out of here before they bring him backing off stage recently!! the lorries in the lorry park didn't faze him at all, but we now know he doesn't like pushchairs LOL!! took him into the indoor to warm up, he was spooky, having never been ridden in one before and the wind was rattling the roof!!
we got into the first class the wind had got up even more, so that was his excuse to behave like a numpty!! i asked him to come into an outline he said "Outline? what's that then??? look!! i can put my head in the air and open my mouth, how's that for you??!!" i asked for inside bend, he replied with outside bend, spooking at the photographer!!! the letter B on the fence was just terrifying!! and he forgot how to stand up!! the individual was a disaster ..... he was scared of the judge and he kept wrong legging it!!! never mind first ridden class, gale force winds and heavy rain, not a good combination!! we were 5th......out of 5 and we deserved it!! ashamed.gif
we also did best turned out, just for more experience... was was alot more settled, and wasn't bad at all considering the rain had turned torrential during this class, he was well behaved despite a pony getting loose and refusing to be caught!! he stood nicely in the line on a long rein, and also wasn't worried about a train passing fairly close by! but the brollies were a different matter!! will go out and buy some now and do some de-spooking!! i was very pleased to be pulled in 4th out of 8!! as a rule i dont do BTO classes!! as i hate tack cleaning lol! and it's difficult on a native against the plaiteds.... but for experience it was great!
i know alot of these fun shows can be a bit odd, classes can be run in strange formats, and the judging can be "interesting" but for getting babies/novices out they are invaluble!! the place we went today was so welcoming and had such a friendly atmosphere, it really didn't matter where you were in a lineup, it would be a shame to lose these shows.....anyway, another more serious venue in 2 weeks time for a novice class, we'll probably be chucked out! whistling[1].gif
