Today i did dressage at the villiage show, I did prelim 4 on my pony (mystic) and mums (Mollie), Was really pleased with Mystic, came 5th 62.7%, most comments were could be more forward but considering last year there i did a w & t test and ended up cantering before the horn went :o i am pleased this year.
now Mollie (has only done w&t twice before) had been working lovely at home and worked well for mum in the w&t today, but i get on and she gets lively and strong, dogs were now by the ring and more people (plus boat swings and coconut shy by warm up), she was spooky and pulling me the whole test but came 7th (59%).

On the way back a open top park and ride to the show bus came up behind us, we trotted on to get some where off the road but he came up beside us spooking one horse which ran into the back of mums (she asked him to stop, them now cantering) think mystic thought it was fun and cantered while i now had my hand out and shouting stop, he didn't til i stopped Mystic and he couldn't pass.

Now i am really worried/paranoid about his legs after cantering on the road :( hopfully he will be ok tomorrow, someone reasure me.

sorry turned out longer than i thought it would.

Well done at your show...i wouldn't worry about your horses legs she'll be fine hun, sometimes my youngster gets a bit excited when im out and having a little trot on the roads and he might do a few strides of canter, i expect most horses have done it more than once in their lives :) I wouldn't worry.

Well done on the improved dressage :)

I'm sure her legs will be fine as it wasn't as though you cantered her hard for miles and miles on the road, think of what they do turned out in the fields when the ground is rock solid.

well done.

just keep a close eye on your horse, I am sure she'll be fine as its only a one off.

Thanks :)

True, its just he had a tendon injury in the past (wasn't off work for too long so don't think it was majorly bad) and his previous owners were worried about it happening again and restricted what he did like only jump max 2'6.
He hasn't had any problems with it since and i have jumped him up to 3ft, i think that is why im so worried though, just because of that leg in the past.

Agree and also when people go out hunting some people let there horses canter down road!! It wasn't for long!! Well Done for test x

His legs should be fine, as it's not like you make a habit of it....They may come up a little but should be it, and cold hosing will sort them if they do.

When i rode my mates horse last summer he started cantering during to trot, when i pulled him up i made a comment to him out no wonder he had a dodgy shoulder and the YM pointed out that they have to do worse when doing XC....Also think about what Hunters/eventers/racers have to charge about on on a regular basis.
