Show us your greyhounds and lurchers

Inspired by recent threads involving greyhounds and lurchers I'd thought I'd show off mine..and its honestly nothing to do with the fact that OH has pointed out that this forum is called 'Horse and Hound' and that I witter on endlessly about the horsey boys and haven't even posted so much as a pic of the dogs..

So here are Betty and Bran (ex-racers):

Yes, they are wearing party hats, yes that is demeaning and yes, they were seriously considering nicking the cake.

And here's my late, great Marley boy (lurcher extraordinaire):

Very elderly in this pic, and literally on his last legs, loved that dog soooooo much..

I do love a sighthound, despite the fact that so far, all mine have been generally rubbish around horses, have caused me more trouble and cost me more money than all the horses put together..and, well the list of complaints is endless but hey ho, I'm still a complete sucker for them, so show us yours!!

Heres Sash the Tash - or Slinky McSlinky.
Last lurcher I am ever allowed to own, she has cost a fortune and wiped out the hares and muntjac on the farm. Shes old now and the populations are making a comeback. Shes a lovely girl, my ideal dog tbh.

Showing that she has us all well trained after 12 years.

She was a rescue so breeding unknown.

My lovely and bestest Duffer Dog, adopted from the RSPCA (all pics from within the last five years because although he has reached the grand old age of 16, we don't have the whole lot covered in digital photos as we didn't have a digital camera way back when we got him! )

bonnie is 8, have had her from a puppy, whippet/bearded collie/bedlington terrier....she is brilliant with other dogs,people,children but not so good with rabbits,squirrels,deer etc . i have to be VERY vigilant on walks but sometimes she takes me by surprise and can be gone for up to 3 hours. needless to say this doesnt do my nerves any good...here she is

hmmm the disappearing-lurcher eh..? I remember that particular trick..no, not good for nerves! Marley used to sneak away from you, gradually build up speed, then once he'd checked to see if you'd noticed and he knew you had, he'd run away looking back over his shoulder...grr...Lovely looking girl yours..

thankyou, i think she is beautiful but must admit she does make me very stressed when she goes missing, im always worried that she will wont come back and could be laying somewhere injured...unfortunately while the rape is so high she is going on the extending lead for that part of the walk as she went for just under 2 hours last week... the joys of lurchers!!!! still they all look beautiful to me...

Finn, seven years old now and owned since a pup. Supposedly full whippet, but is 23"! His grandsire won the Waterloo Cup - the only rabbits Finn catches have mixy!! He has done a fair bit of showing though, has always won his classes at Chatsworth and was reserve champion SW lurcher a few years back. He'a also a wingey, moaning pain in the bum, but we love him! I took him riding with me once... he buggered off after someones cat, so is now grounded...!

All lovely dogs and must admit to having a soft spot for them, I regularly have a ex rescue black greyhound bitch come to stay when friends go on holiday. This is her second home and all my dogs love her, when her owners leave she dosnt even get off the sofa to say goodbye but is always pleased to see them when they return. She always goes home knackered and sleeps for a week and my friends are happy for her to stay as she didnt do well in kennels.

Quite lucky with him, he refused to chase the rabbit so we rehomed him from RGT when he was only a year old. Such a special lad!

He is lovely. Coursing whippets can be up to 23". A friend has one she got cheap as he is 25".

hehehe loving them all...particularly like the way the very shaggy one is used by the others like a particularly comfy cushion! I love the way they have completely commandeered the leather sofa...mine only sit next to each other grudgingly!!
And Cyd!...Borzoi....?? All hounds welcome, of course...lovely pix all round of a type of dog that often doesn't warrant much attention, but its amazing how many of us have one tucked away somewhere!!
My dogs would be rubbish out riding too...my old lurcher once had me off my bike in the side of the road, simply by being a tit.. he also developed a taste for hedgerow herbs after carefully watching a horse grazing over the fence...I know dogs do this, but he never did until he saw the horse doing it...
