Is this do-able? I am 27 and have a super 148 unreg connie who'd do very well in WHP classes and I'd like to take him to as high a level as he could get. The BSPS site seems to say 158 need to have riders aged 25 and under... does this mean I need to stick to unaffil shows or is there a society that supports adults on ponies - or do I just need to stick to BSJA?

Another option is having him re registered and passported with a connie passport and showing him as a M&M but this is quite pricey I've heard.

Any ideas would be hugely appreciated! x

Unfortunately you will be unable to compete him under BSPS rules as a plaited WHP. Due to your age. Why is he currently unregistered?

As above its a no for affiliated plaited

If you can register the pony then you could ride in the M&M exceeding 143 category forever and ever so def worth the cash if the pony is a decent example

Thanks both :) Such a shame - I would think a society would get quite big numbers if they offered an adults on ponies class. I don't know - he is a suspected connie... a nice stamp of one but just has an Irish passport, not one from the Connemara Society but as an adult gelding I have contacted BCPS to ask how I go about him being reg as a full/part bred connie.

That's what I'm hoping WelshD - my other pony is a welsh D and I ride him in these classes so hoping to do that same... just Sky does better suit the plaited look! This is him below - He is a lovely sort... excuse the downhill stride of canter!

He's nice but unless you know both his parents and they are fully registered and you are able to get them DNA tested it will be near on impossible for you to register him as a full bred, would be pointless registering him part (unless you want to do part bred classes) as you still couldn't compete as a M&m so he'd still be plaited and you'd still need to be under 25 - to register part bred you'd also need to prove a % of him is connie.

If you really want to see how far he can go plaited why don't you do unaff stuff and if he does well find an underage jockey to compete him in BSPS classes?

Hi Alex,
Your only option would be to have a hair sample sent to the Weatherbys Ireland lab for them to run through their random checking program. This really is a long shot, and would require both of the parents to have been previously registered and DNA tested as pure bred connemaras. However it is an option…
Kind regards,

Just got this from BCPS so yes - seems a long shot... I think I'll stick to BSJA and BE! Just would have been nice to do something different, but have just got a very competent part loaner who's 20 - so I may just push her into doing some... she's a little shorter than me too so creates a better 'picture' for showing :p

Thanks all! xx
