Im taking my mare to a show soon, and shes been clipped, I've never competed a clipped horse in showing....apart from when I was ickle....and I remember a judge saying a pony shouldn't have been clipped?!? Will my mare be marked down cuz she's clipped?! Random question, but was just curious!!

Only time I have come across negative comments was when I had clipped an elderly pony in the summer in an M & M class and that was fair enough.

I have a show cob who for whatever reason (bless him) seats up quite a lot in the summer.

I ended up clipping him at the end of July last year and will probably keep him clipped out most of the year as he will be doing county level workers.

My instructor is a judge and she says its not a problem!

in winter you can clip every horse or pony for the show ring, the nly thing you must do is leave legs on for the natives and traditionals.

In summer you cant clip the native breeds (there normaly some thing that says in the socieies website that fresh clipping after a certain time will be penalised). I do know of a few people who clip show hunter ponies all year round

Thanks for all your answers...been very helpful
