Hi guys,

Just a quick Q...I've never been 'into' showing before but am thinking I've gotta get over it as I have a 2 year old Welsh D who I want to do some in hand with (one his mane has grown back :( he had worn a full neck rug h/w rug in previous home during hot weather and it all fell out) and a Welsh A mare with PBW filly foal at foot who I think would do well to do get out and see some sights

So the Q is, if my Welsh A mare and the foal were to go to a local show (and be put into a broodmare/best foal class), what should I show the foal in?
Mare (I'm assuming!) in a white halter being a welshie, but should foal be in one too so as to be matchy matchy or being a PBW should she be in a leather filly slip??

Any other hints or tips for taking a foalie to first show would be highly appreciated! She will be 10weeks 4days old on the date of the show if that makes any difference

Thanks :)

Kim

I have seen foals shown with a foal slip but not a filly slip.

Why don't you give the mountain and moorland or welsh breed society to ask for some tips? Also, I would go to a show where they have mare and foal classes for some tips.

I went to a show before I took my yearling out to see how it was done. Research is never a bad thing.

Hope someone more experienced here can help you but you might do better in Breeding category?

Thanks guys have had loads of conflicting advice - all from people who show so I'm well and truly stumped!

Some have said plait and in leather slip. Others have said white halter to match mum and no plaits as foal is so young - but to tell judge she's a pbw and not full bred

Confused.com! Will pop.it in breeding section too
