I have recently purchased a black percheron mare. I would like to show her in a local heavy horse class (in hand). How do I present her (and myself for that matter)? She has a long mane do I leave it unplaited? What should I lead her in? I don't expect to win anything but don't want to look totally out of place either! So any advise greatly appreciated.

im not 100%, but i think the correct turn out is untrimmed, like a native. and then trimmed for undersaddle?
im not sure tho

Look on the internet and you will see photo's of how to plat manes and tails for showing in hand. You could also go to some of the big county shows and watch them there

You can either fully plait (heavy horse style) or leave long and flowing.
You need tweed jacked and flat cap.

Best bet is look on the breed website.

Thanks. Not sure how I would look in a flat cap. Do women have to wear them?
Could I show in a bridle? It has taken me ages to get a bridle and bit to fit my mare
